Seeds Taking Root in Mozambique

Progress in Nhamayabwe, Mozambique this quarter paints a bright future ahead. With new infrastructure on the horizon and families deepening their agricultural success, the foundation being built is a promise for sustainability and a future shaped by the community itself.

A Space to Gather, Learn, and Grow

Construction is set to begin soon on a new “machessa”—a community gathering structure for training, education, and connection in Mutua 3. Land negotiations are nearing completion, and materials are already being sourced.

Once finished, this space will host everything from literacy classes to youth programs, becoming a cornerstone for continued growth. Visiting volunteers may even get the chance to help bring it to life, turning their support into something tangible.

Gardens That Keep Giving

What began as a modest effort has quickly transformed. In just one year, families with home gardens jumped from 20% to 99%. Now, those same families are expanding crop diversity and applying what they’ve learned. New efforts, like introducing heirloom seeds and testing local preservation methods, are helping reduce reliance on external resources—making food security more resilient and self-sustaining.

A Story of Hope

Carmilita Castiao’s journey captures what’s possible. Carmilita has become one of her community’s most recognized cassava producers. Her family manages three large cassava plots and has developed a complete production cycle that feeds the household and generates meaningful income.

Looking Forward

With construction beginning, gardens thriving, and innovation taking hold, the path forward is clear: this project is designed to help generations to come.

If you would like to see this machessa reach completion, make a donation today. Every single dollar has an impact and goes toward helping the Foundation break the cycles of poverty, abuse, and suffering.
