ASEA hosts the annual Have An Impact, Make A Difference day!

Tower gardens

ASEA hosted our annual service day to commemorate our founder, Verdis Norton, on his birthday, 12 September! We choose service as a way to honor Verdis Norton’s legacy as it best encapsulates what he has done in his personal life, and for giving us the wonder that is ASEA redox cell signaling molecules.

Have An Impact, Make A Difference.

Service is much more than part of our culture at ASEA; it’s something that is ingrained into everything we do. Having an impact on the world around us dictates the choices we make locally and abroad. The ASEA Advancing Life Foundation is how we reach other parts of the world, making a difference.

Garden towers—the key to life

When land and resources are scarce, innovation becomes essential. Garden towers, simple yet powerful, consist of a large bag of soil enclosed in heavy mesh. This straightforward design makes them accessible to those enduring some of the harshest conditions worldwide. With a compact footprint of just three feet in diameter, these towers are perfect for densely populated areas where space is limited. For nearly a billion people globally who lack access to land, these towers offer a lifeline.

Each garden tower can support up to 120 plants and can last for up to five years. By using local soil and manure from farm animals, communities can create fertile compost, turning their environment into a source of nourishment.

These garden towers do more than just provide food—they empower vulnerable communities by fostering self-sufficiency, paving the way for a more sustainable future. Through a partnership with the nonprofit WHOlives, the ASEA Advancing Life Foundation is bringing these garden towers to The Kenya. This initiative will enable families to cultivate gardens with less land and 30% less water, with the added benefit of selling excess produce for profit.

Corporate employees, 100 Humanitarians, and the ASEA Advancing Life Foundation making an impact

Employees gathered on Thursday, 12 September to assemble the garden towers. Each volunteer cut, pinned, folded, sewed, or drilled to make the garden tower bags, with each bag holding up to 120 plants.

“It feels good knowing that we’re helping make a difference. We might not ever see, at least in person, the people this specific garden tower will help, but knowing this will help feed a family of five, everyday… it’s incredible to think about.” Brandon Dominguez, copywriter at ASEA corporate.

Seeing the employees volunteer their time and effort during their workday to participate in the service day is evidence of ASEA ’s mission: “T o better people’s lives and to be a force for good in the world.”

If you want to help ASEA and the Advancing Life Foundation continue to break the cycles of poverty, abuse, and suffering, make a donation today. Every single dollar has an impact. Even if it might not feel like you can’t make a difference, together… we can.
