The Exodus Road and ASEA Advancing Life Foundation donors helped dismantle trafficking networks in Thailand while creating hope for survivors. Read about the details as well as firsthand experiences of Analia and Chuck Funke who visited the Freedom Home in Thailand.
Rescue Operations
Over the course of the quarter, seven tightly coordinated stings liberated 14 women and children caught in sexual exploitation while simultaneously putting six traffickers in handcuffs.
Embedded social workers remained at each scene from the first police interview through safe-house intake, guaranteeing that victims were treated as witnesses—not offenders—while investigators gathered evidence strong enough to move straight to prosecution.
Survivor Rehabilitation
Freedom Home, The Exodus Road’s long-term after-care program, welcomed six new residents this quarter and continued to serve another 23.
- 11 survivors began education or vocational training programs, with seven having graduated and nine placed in internships.
- Two survivors have begun small businesses, marking important steps toward independence.
- 39 survivors received legal support.
- 205 mental health and case management sessions were provided to survivors.
- 19 family members of survivors received basic needs and counsel.
Each step—whether a counseling breakthrough or a first paycheck—reinforces the message that their futures are no longer defined by past trauma.
Prevention & Community Impact
Because trafficking rings evolve quickly, The Exodus Road’s teams pair on-the-ground intel with new cyber-surveillance partnerships that accelerate suspect identification. Meanwhile, outreach educators ran 40 workshops on safe migration and online-exploitation awareness, reaching nearly 1,800 at-risk youths in border provinces.
By addressing vulnerabilities long before a trafficker can exploit them, these programs reduce the demand for future rescues while building local ownership of anti-trafficking efforts.
Why Partnership Matters
Analia and Chuck Funke were able to visit the Freedom Home care center in Thailand in person. These were their reflections.
“Child trafficking is one of the gravest violations of human dignity, and its impact on children is devastating—not only robbing them of their physical freedom but damaging their spiritual identity, emotional well-being, and intellectual development.
“Child trafficking is one of the gravest violations of human dignity . . .”
Having had the privilege to travel with ASEA Advancing Life Foundation in conjunction with Exodus Road, I have seen firsthand how deeply this trauma can affect young lives. That is why, although this issue can feel like a dark space, it is such a privilege to know that ASEA’s partnership with The Exodus Road, whose global efforts strategically dismantle trafficking networks and compassionately support survivors is changing lives—one vulnerable child at a time.
In partnering with Exodus Road one can be proud to know that rather than ignoring a difficult issue or despairing over seemingly overwhelming global problems such as child trafficking, Exodus Road, and those who support its work around the world, are protecting vulnerable children, restoring potential, and building a future where every child is free to grow, learn, and live with dignity.”
– Analia Funke.
“A pattern I have recognized over the course of my life is that the more I learn about something, the more I realize how little I know. This pattern was reinforced recently as I had the opportunity to visit Thailand at the invitation of The Exodus Road, where I saw firsthand the daily struggle that goes on by good people to fight a pernicious evil.
“Every child rescued is a declaration that evil will not have the final word. . .”
The Exodus Road, which is focused on prevention, intervention, and survivor care, offers a powerful model for how justice can be pursued with both strategy and compassion. Human trafficking is a sophisticated, complex, deeply rooted evil. Dismantling such darkness requires more than outrage; it demands action, and this is what The Exodus Road does best.
Every child rescued is a declaration that evil will not have the final word. Fighting trafficking is not just about justice—it’s about rewriting futures. And The Exodus Road takes justice just as seriously as they do rewriting those futures. As an organization, they measure success not only by the number of individuals liberated, but also by the number of vile individuals who are arrested, tried, convicted, and sent to jail. The Exodus Road brings to light an industry of exploitation that thrives in the shadows.
Human slavery is a global stain on the conscience of humanity just as it was centuries ago. To ignore slavery of any form is to be complicit in its cruelty. Justice is not passive—it is pursued, person by person, rescue by rescue. This is one of the many things I learned from my time with The Exodus Road. The fight against trafficking is not just a moral imperative—it is a shared responsibility. Their work is a call to action for all who believe in the dignity and worth of every human life.”
– Chuck Funke
