Guatemala update: The ASEA Advancing Life Foundation continues to empower students and educators

Every milestone we achieve is a testament to your generosity and belief in the power of education. Today, we want to celebrate the transformative strides being made in Guatemala, all thanks to your support.

Empowering educators at San Mateo and Jose Ignacio Ortiz Vides Spark Schools

Imagine the ripple effect of a teacher equipped to inspire a classroom of eager young minds. This August, 31 dedicated educators from our sponsored schools completed their final round of training for the year. With the help of teacher guides (GANA) and student workbooks (cuadernillos), they’re empowered daily with tools to revolutionize learning. But it doesn’t stop there. This month, Spark trainers will visit their classrooms, providing one-on-one coaching and celebrating their successes.

The journey of progress continues through our partnership with Guatemala’s Ministry of Education. By training regional supervisors in Spark’s proven Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) methodology, we’re sowing seeds for nationwide change. From rural classrooms to ministry offices, this collaborative effort is transforming how education is delivered—and, in the long run, this transforms lives and communities.

Bridging the digital divide in Jalapa

In Jalapa, the hum of new computers is the sound of opportunity. Thanks to you, a cutting-edge computer lab is opening doors for students to explore technology. Miguel Quinteros, the Computer Center’s Program Coordinator, sends his heartfelt thanks for the transformative changes he’s witnessing.

“Espero que te encuentres de maravilla. Queremos aprovechar este momento para expresarte nuestro más sincero agradecimiento por tu generosa donación de equipo de computación.”

“I hope you are doing great. We want to take this moment to express our most sincere gratitude for your generous donation of computer equipment.”

To ensure these opportunities endure, the trained computer team has been diligently visiting 50 CoEd Centers, including Jalapa, for additional training, curriculum support, and technical maintenance. These visits are crucial in keeping the momentum alive, ensuring students and teachers alike thrive in a tech-enabled future.

Remember, you can help make a difference

Your commitment fuels these powerful stories of change. Together, we’re not just teaching skills but building dreams. Thank you for being part of this journey—it’s because of you that the seeds of hope and progress are flourishing.

If you would like to help the foundation make a difference in Guatemala—and in other places all around the world—take the time to make a donation. Every single donation has an impact, no matter how small.
