A Launchpad for Leadership
In a quiet corner of Chongwe, Zambia, something powerful is unfolding. Thanks to your support through the ASEA Advancing Life Foundation, young men are being equipped not just with education—but with purpose.
This May, Mothers Without Borders held their inaugural Boys’ Empowerment Bootcamp, a daylong retreat that brought together young men from vastly different walks of life to explore leadership, identity, and cultural values. Together, they learned how to navigate the pressures of masculinity, build self-respect, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Conversations Build Character
Throughout the month, small group sessions focused on understanding societal expectations around gender and exploring traditional values. These conversations—about respect, dress, behavior, and relationships—helped each boy better understand his role in shaping a compassionate, inclusive society.
One-On-One Mentorship Changes Lives
And behind every gathering, a quiet revolution is happening: mentorship. In private one-on-one meetings, boys shared their dreams and struggles. One young man, in particular, spoke of how difficult it was to keep up in school while caring for younger siblings and working odd jobs. But when he received a donated laptop and school sponsorship through the program, everything changed. He now studies in the evenings and has begun tutoring other students in his village. The support he received didn’t just help him—it rippled outward into his community.
