It’s a wonderful time of year, and the most deserving recipients of the spirit of giving are those who make it possible for us to live the way we do. Generally given less attention than highly advertised days like Black Friday or Cyber Monday, perhaps the most important event every holiday season benefitting folks nationwide is Giving Tuesday. This online trend has inspired volunteers at ASEA and The Advancing Life Foundation to contribute as much effort, funds, and good cheer as possible for the local community. On December 3rd, Advancing Life hosted a Giving Tuesday event in which ASEA corporate employees could take time away from their desks to contribute a little holiday spirit for those in need.
Advancing Life partnered with Operation Gratitude, which sends over three hundred thousand care packages to soldiers and military personnel overseas. Volunteers helped out by assembling ‘Battalion Buddy’ kits. Battalion Buddies are cuddly bears in care packages that are sent to children of deployed military servicemen and women to give them a little cheer and comfort while their parents serve our country. ASEA volunteers assembled over one hundred care packages containing a battalion buddy bear dressed in camouflage and letters of appreciation.
Volunteers also assembled over three hundred paracord bracelets and over two hundred hygiene kits with donations gathered in October by ASEA associates and employees.
Volunteers raised over $1000 in funds in exchange for goods donated by ASEA, including handcrafted bags from Ecuador, ASEA tees, jackets, backpacks, and branded water bottles.
In just one day of service, we are proud that we at ASEA were able to contribute just a little extra to the much-needed service effort in our local community. We continue to strive to have an impact and make a difference, wherever we can, whenever we can.
