During the last two years, there has been an unprecedented need to help families struggling with issues spanning from food insecurity to access to fresh water and even rescue from trafficking. Thanks to generous contributions, donors have funded initiatives serving families in need in countries around the globe. Yet the need for help continues to grow and the Advancing Life Foundation is answering the call this holiday season.
Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, and this year the foundation has a goal to raise $30,000 throughout November and December—with the help of ASEA matching each donation. This means that every dollar raised will have double the impact this holiday season.
Efforts in 2020 – 2021
Over the last year, our partnerships with various organizations have allowed us to impact the lives of those in need. Vision Cambodia helped us accomplish two expeditions to Siem Reap, build 58 wells, plant 12 gardens, and donate 212 newborn kits. Partnering with Feeding America and the Global Food Network we provided funding for 1,000,000 meals; with the US Hunger Project we provided 40,000 meals; and with the Salvation Army, we provided disaster relief for people in Kentucky, Louisville County, and in flood-ravaged Germany.
Our clean water initiatives in 2021 have included donating more than 55 freshwater wells, funding a new wet lab at the Navajo Technical University in Kirtland, New Mexico (through a partnership with Dig Deep), and we’ve funded the build-out of a well at an aftercare shelter for women who were rescued from human trafficking in Kenya.
Through Operation Underground Railroad, we’ve funded a rescue mission in the Middle East to free 30 women from prison who had been trafficked. We are helping fund the build-out of a mobile forensic lab and are funding the training of police dog Tor, who is now part of Derry Township in Pennsylvania.
How you can help
This holiday season the foundation has a goal to raise more money to help those in need. With the recent global pandemic and several natural disasters, relief is now more critical than ever before. To meet the ongoing need of those in poverty, Advancing Life accepts ongoing donations to significantly increase our ability to plan and commit to larger-scale, higher-impact causes. A monthly donation creates available funds for immediate use during emergencies and critical initiatives.
