For young women in Bangladesh, access to higher education can be the difference between a future defined by limited opportunities and one filled with independence, purpose, and possibility. Through a partnership with Speak Up for the Poor, the Advancing Life Foundation is helping remove barriers that prevent many young women from pursuing their dreams.
By expanding and supporting the College Women’s Dormitory in Khulna, Bangladesh, ASEA is providing a safe place to live, learn, and prepare for careers that will positively impact their families and communities.
Safe Path to Higher Education
Since the partnership began in March 2022, the College Women’s Dormitory has grown significantly. What began with space for 40 young women has expanded to a fully furnished facility supporting 175 students as of June 2026. The dormitory has remained at full capacity for several years, allowing more young women to continue their education beyond high school.
In addition, ASEA has helped provide housing support for 40 other young women living near colleges and nursing schools throughout Bangladesh. Together, these efforts ensure that students have the stability and security they need to focus on their education.

Protecting Futures through Education
Many young women served through this program come from communities where poverty and limited access to education can increase vulnerability to child marriage and other forms of hardship. By providing safe housing and educational support, the program gives these students the opportunity to graduate, build careers, and create brighter futures.
The dormitory has become an important part of helping graduates of Speak Up for the Poor’s education programs transition into college and professional training.

Chandona: A Future Nurse Making a Difference
Chandona, a 19-year-old student, represents the life-changing impact of this support. After joining Speak Up for the Poor’s education programs as a child, she recently gained admission to a three-year nursing program. With a safe home at the ASEA-supported dormitory, she is working toward her goal of becoming a professional nurse.
Growing up in a family facing significant poverty and health challenges, Chandona understands the importance of healthcare and hopes to help others live healthier lives. Without your support, her future opportunities would have been far more limited.

Help Create More Opportunities
Every contribution to the Advancing Life Foundation helps provide those like Chandona and the rest of the with Women’s Dormitory with the resources, security, and encouragement they need to pursue education and build independent futures. Together, we can continue expanding opportunities, protecting vulnerable young women, and creating lasting change.
