The Advancing Life Foundation’s work with Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) in the fight against human trafficking continued across the world throughout 2019. A 2019 Impact Report video released on the nonprofit’s website shows, in part, the role that ASEA volunteers and donors played in the success of O.U.R.’s efforts over the last year.
The Advancing Life Foundation funded the original Nepal exploratory mission for O.U.R. in 2018, and the work there has continued, with Nepal being one of the most heavily trafficked areas in the world due to its location along the Indian border. This past year, we also funded the training of two K-9 police dogs named ALF and Champ, who now work with police officers in Alabama and Florida, sniffing out electronic storage devices (ESDs), a critical component of bringing down child pornographers.
Advancing Life funds helped O.U.R. fund a victim recovery center constructed in Bangkok, Thailand, by paying for forensic equipment. And we are helping fund another ICAC center in the Ukraine, where O.U.R. is helping provide homes and healthcare for high-risk youth who would otherwise be living on the street.
With so much going on in the news today, it can be easy to become discouraged. With the efforts of amazing organizations like O.U.R. and the donations and service work of ASEA’s Advancing Life Foundation volunteers, we are reminded that good people everywhere are helping make an impact and be a force for good in the world. About Operation Underground Railroad
O.U.R. is a nonprofit which assists governments worldwide in the rescue of human trafficking and sex trafficking victims, most of whom are children. O.U.R. aids with planning, prevention, capture, and prosecution of offenders, and works with partners on prevention, victim recovery, awareness, and fundraising efforts. Their goal is to eradicate sex trafficking worldwide.
O.U.R. is known for its covert operations with jump teams consisting of former CIA agents, U.S. Special Operations Forces members, and other support volunteers. Through O.U.R., we provided funding to U.S. state law enforcement agencies, with special ops located in 25 states. With funding, the operators access digital files, intelligence sharing, and investigative tools crucial in capturing perpetrators in the trafficking industry.
